About EmploymentWise

Last updated 2026-10-13.

EmploymentWise is an independent information site for employees in the Republic of Ireland: dismissal, redundancy, pay, hours, leave, sick pay, bullying, discrimination, contracts and the WRC. It works out the person’s own figures (the redundancy lump sum, the notice, the leave, the sick pay, the WRC deadline) and says, honestly, when a union or a solicitor is the right next step. Employers are not the audience.

Who is behind it

EmploymentWise is published by Codable Labs Ltd, an Irish company, and is part of the StampWise family of independent guides alongside StampWise.ie (Irish immigration and employment permits), SettleWise, DivorceWise.ie and DefamationWise.ie. It is not a law firm, not a union and not affiliated with the Workplace Relations Commission, the Labour Court, the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, the Department of Social Protection, Revenue or any trade union.

How the content is kept honest

  • Every guide names the Act or official page it comes from and shows the date it was last checked.
  • Every tool reads its rules from a versioned configuration file with its own source list and dated figures; nothing is hard-coded in a page. Figures with a date certain are entered in advance and switch on the day. Rules whose wording could not be checked against the Act itself are marked as awaiting that check, on the sources page.
  • The awards register holds reported WRC and Labour Court outcomes with a dated source, never predictions, and is never crawled.
  • A weekly check flags any guide or configuration that has not been verified in 90 days; the rules are re-read each quarter, every Budget and every 1 January.
  • Law in force, law enacted but not commenced, and announced plans are kept apart on the rule-change tracker.

What the site will not do

  • It gives no legal advice and never says whether a dismissal was unfair, a deduction unlawful or a redundancy genuine.
  • It never names an employer a reader describes, hosts no reviews of employers, and does not comment on live cases beyond the public record.
  • It serves employees only: no employer-side services, no “how to dismiss” content, no HR-software advertising on employee pages.
  • It sells no letters: the letter builder is free, generic and in the reader’s own words.
  • It sends union members to their union before any solicitor, and no union pays it.
  • It never describes a claim as quick, easy or guaranteed, and never uses the phrase the advertising rules ban.

Corrections

Corrections are welcome: write to hello@employmentwise.ie with the page address and the official source. Where a page and the Act differ, the Act is right.
